Rosemary Ambrose, however, has extracted marriage announcements from the Dumfries Reformer for the years of 1860-1865. The edition of 15 March, 1865, carries the announcement for the marriage of John and Isabella. It tells that the marriage was held on March 9th, 1865, at the residence of the bride's father, Rosebank, near Doon. Isabella is described as the 3rd daughter of Thomas Henderson. Rosebank will be the name of the farm. |
Death | She died on 22 February 1907 at Berlin, Waterloo Co., Ontario, at age 64. |
Burial | She was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Berlin, Waterloo Co.. |
Note | Isabella's date of birth, 22 Jauary 1843, is taken from the transcription of her gravestone. The 1901 census shows her date of birth as 12 January 1844. Isabella's family lived near the southern edge of Waterloo Township, apparently just south of the village of Doon. Old maps of Waterloo Township reveal an interesting patchwork of surveys, one of them being the Beasley New Survey, apparently where the Thomas Henderson family resided. The Mitchell Co 1864 County of Waterloo Gazetteer shows Thomas Henderson, Isabella's father, as a magistrate. One old map shows him as a J.P. (Justice of the Peace). While the Thomas Henderson property was close to Doon, it was also close to the village of Blair. Isabella's parents, Thomas Henderson and his wife Isabella Young are buried in Old Blair Memorial Cemetery. Death reg. 030190-07 Berlin, Waterloo Co. Mrs. Isabella Moffatt died Feb. 22, 1907. Age 64.
