| Note | Thomas and Rebecca appear in the 1851 census in North Dumfries. They are shown as being born in Scotland; Chrystie and John are with them and these adult children are shown as being born in Nova Scotia. By 1861, Rebecca has died and Thomas is living in Galt with daughter Christina (Chrystie).
Thomas McKenzie's death is recorded in First Church death register (see microfilm GS2987). His death is shown as 24 October, 1862, which is the same date recorded on his gravestone in section 2 of Mountview Cemetery. Thomas will originally have been buried in the Strang Burial Ground (First Church Cemetery) at present day High Park in Cambridge/Galt. The transcription of section 2, Mountview, as provided by the Waterloo Region branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, indicates that this was a Burnet plot, for Robert and Chrystie McKenzie Burnet are buried there. |
