| Note | Death reg. 041612-37 Galt, Waterloo County Mrs. Jane Watson died July 11th, 1937, at Galt. Residence 125 Victoria Ave., Galt. Widow, born Sheffield, Ontario, on December 14th, 1854. Age 82. Lady. Husband Thomas Watson. Parents George Mulholland and Elizabeth Buchanan, both born Canada. Physician Dr. Douglas. Informant Phillip Johnson, 125 Victoria Ave., Galt., son-in-law. Burial, MVC, Galt, July 13th. That Jane Maria Mulholland was born in Beverly Township is reasonable. Siblings both older and younger than herself claim Beverly birth. Her death registration, however, narrows the location to Sheffield, or at least to the Sheffield area, which is not so far east of Branchton in North Dumfries Township. A piece of confusion. Thomas and Jane had a daughter, Margaret Watson, born in 1883. She married George William Clark on 18 October, 1903, in North Dumfries Township. They lived out their lives and are buried together in Section 6 of Mountview Cemetery in Galt. George died in 1956 and Margaret died in 1955. But then, we have the following marriage registration. Mrge reg. 020625-07 Galt, Waterloo County Philip Geo. Johnson, 24, bachelor, mechanic, Roman Catholic. Born and residing Galt. Parents Levi Johnson and Margaret McNulty. Margaret Elsie Watson, 24, spinster, Roman Catholic. Born Branchton, Ont., residing Galt. Parents Thos. Watson and Jane Mulholland. Witnesses Charles J. Skelly and Margaret Lunn, both of Galt. On Oct. 16, 1907, by Rev. Jno. J. Craven. Margaret Elsie Watson Johnson appears to have lived out her life with Philip, for they are shown as buried in Section 7 of Mountview Cemetery - with one change in the information. Philip's date are Jan. 9, 1883 to Apr. 25, 1959, and F. Elsie's as Nov. 1, 1881 to June 21, 1967. We appear to have two different persons of similar names. A clear answer to the problem isn't readily apparent. |
