Mary Ann McDonald, 19, born Canada, residing Blenheim. Parents James and Sarah McDonald. Witnesses Robert Foster and Eliz'th McDonald, both of Blenheim. On Feb. 12th, 1864. The date '12th' is illegibly written. Writers of indexes have interpreted this differently. See Dumfries Reformer Marriages, 1860-1865, as extracted by Rosemary Ambrose. The newspaper's edition of 24 February, 1864, records the marriage of George and Mary Ann. It does not date the marriage, but it does locate it in Blenheim. |

Note | After Mary Ann McDonald's death, George married a widow with the maiden name of Catherine Maria Norris (1843-1919). Her married name was Mason, according to their marriage registration. They were married in Listowel, Perth County, on February 22, 1871. She was the daughter of William Norris and Maria Bird. George died in 1907 and Catherine in 1919. They are buried in Gorrie Public Cemetery in Howick Township in Huron County. George and Catherine had at least two sons, George (1871-1950) and Charlton (1874-1896). George married a Mary I. Underwood, 1879-1962, and they and Charlton are buried in Gorrie Public Cemetery. Death reg. 014301-07 Howick Twp., Huron Co. George Foster died at Gorrie, Ontario, in Howick Twp., December 29, 1907, age 65 yrs., 8 mos., 15 dys. He was married and a retired farmer. His death registration states that he was born in Blenheim Twp. |
