Death registration per database from Familysearch District of Columbia Deaths, 1864-1961. Sarah Kay died 22 March, 1915, District of Columbia, 3 Gratn Place, N.W. Age 89. Widowed Born Canada 1826 estimated. Burial 25 Mar 1915 at Woodstock, Ontario The inscription on Sarah's gravestone confirms her date of death. A Woodstock newspaper dated March 23rd tells of Sarah's death and that Sarah's remains were expected by train at Woodstock the same day, the 23rd. Since she died on the 22nd a date of burial of 25th March is more reasonable. It appears that at the time of Sarah's death, her daughters Elizabeth and Sarah Jane were in Washington, D.C. Sarah Jane went by Jennie. Sarah is buried with her second husband, John Kay, in Section 3 of Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery. |
