ID # 4512, (1851-1900)
Father | Kenneth McDonald (1821-1892) |
Mother | Elizabeth McCrea (1828-1900) |
Birth | Flora McDonald was born in 1851 at South Dumfries Twp., Brant Co.. |
Marriage | She married William Scott, son of Andrew Scott and Jane Carrick, on 27 February 1878 at South Dumfries Township, Brant County. Mrge reg. 001131-78 South Dumfries Twp., Brant Co. William Scott, 26, bachelor, egg merchant, residing Galt, born South Dumfries, parents Andrew and Jane Scott. Flora McDonald, 26, Spinster, born and residing South Dumfries, parents Kenneth and Harriett McDonald. Witnesses: Robert Scott and Harriett McDonald both of South Dumfries. February 27, 1878, at South Dumfries, by Rev. A. Glendenning The bride and groom were Presbyterian. Andrew Glendenning was minister at the Glen Morris Presbyterian Church from 1877 to 1878. He was a graduate of the Princeton Theological Seminary. The 1915 bulletin of this institution has an obituary for Andrew and something of his history. There is clearly an error in the above marriage notice in that Flora's mother's name was Elizabeth, not Harriet. Flora's sister Harriet was a witness at her marriage and the entry of her name - twice - may have been the source of the error. Something of the Glen Morris church's records, which include the communion roll show Flora's name. She married William Scott in February of 1878 and she is show as leaving the Glen Morris congregation by certificate in June of that year. Baptism records as shown in the record do not begin until 1853, but those of Flora's younger siblings do appear. |
