Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society provides a transcription of the marriage records of Grace Anglican Church in Brantford for the years of 1830-1872. This is publication number 242. See page 20. This reads: Walter Rubridge, barrister, to Henrietta Anne Martin, both of Brantford. 15 May 1852, Brantford Church. By licence. Witnesses Charles Robinson and R. N. Lair. That Henrietta's name has been transcribed as Martin will be a handwriting issue. Should this interpretation leave any doubt, consider the following: The biographical sketch for Peter Marter as it appears on page 507 of The Medical Profession in Upper Canada, Canniff, 1894 tells that Henrietta married Walter Rubridge of Peterboro in 1852. |

Physician Dr. Ferguson. Informant J. Ferguson. The Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a transcription of Greenwood Cemetery. This has some transcription problems. The day books for burials present what are probably handwriting issues. As the the gravestone in the family plot, the name appears as Rubidge, which may be due to a worn stone. The burial books show Henrietta as Rudledge; Walter is shown correctly as Rubridge. A biography of Walter is to be found on page 532 of Warner & Beers 1883 History of the County of Brant. In it, Walter's name is shown as Rubidge. Also, the date of his marriage to Miss H. A. 'Martin' is mentioned as well as the fact that she is the daughter of the late Dr. P. 'Martin'. |
