Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society provides a transcription of the marriage records of Grace Anglican Church in Brantford for the years of 1830-1872. This is publication number 242. See page 20. This reads: Walter Rubridge, barrister, to Henrietta Anne Martin, both of Brantford. 15 May 1852, Brantford Church. By licence. Witnesses Charles Robinson and R. N. Lair. That Henrietta's name has been transcribed as Martin will be a handwriting issue. Should this interpretation leave any doubt, consider the following: The biographical sketch for Peter Marter as it appears on page 507 of The Medical Profession in Upper Canada, Canniff, 1894 tells that Henrietta married Walter Rubridge of Peterboro in 1852. |

Informant Fred W. Rubridge, clerk, Brantford. Henrietta and her sister Jane were almost certainly born in Brantford. The Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has an extensive transcription of Grace Anglican Church baptisms and the forerunner baptisms done at the Mohawk Chapel, but baptism records for Henrietta or Jane are not found. There do appear to be gaps in the record which might account for the omissions. |
