The handwriting is difficult, but the clergyman's last name looks to be Cowan. |
Note | Birth reg. 036845-78 (reg'd. in January of 1878) December 9, 1877, in Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co., George, son of John Cairns, farmer, and Jane Roberts. The 1881 census page showing the Cairns family in the 1881 census in Beverly is so faded as to appear unreadable. The LDS Family History researchers made a transcription and it is likely correct. The family is shown as Free Methodist; John Cairns is shown as a farmer, born in Scotland, and Jane Cairns is shown as born in Ireland. The children were born in Ontario.
