Susan E. Wilber, 22, born and residing South Dumfries. Parents Jeremiah and Susan Wilber.
Witnesses Charles P. Bell of St. George and Martha Kitchen of Grimsby.
On July 2nd, 1862.

Martha Kitchen of Grimsby, age 18, appears with the Susan Wilber household in South Dumfries in the 1861 census. (A Jacob Kitchen of Grimsby is also present. His age is shown as 61. He is probably Susan Kitchen Wilber's brother.)

The county marriage registration do not typically provide the exact location of a marriage. We would normally guess that this marriage was held in either South Dumfries Township, or, more specifically, in
St. George. In this case, we have more information.

The Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has transcriptions of the Canadian Baptist. The issue of July 17, 1862, informs us that George N. Currey, 4th son of Rev. David Currey, married Susan C. Wilber at the residence of the bride's mother near St. George on the 2nd of the same month. Census information locates Susan Wilber, the bride's mother, in South Dumfries Township.

Interestingly, another volume from these transcriptions shows another Currey-Wilber marriage on New Year's Day 1866, by the same clergyman. This marriage was that of Samuel Currey of Wolverton, the youngest son of Rev. Currey. The bride was Mary A. Wilber of South Dumfries. Her parentage is given as William and Maria, and who they were is still subject to research.
