Note | One family history suggests that Cyrus was born in Caradoc Township. Cyrus gave Brantford as his birthplace on his marriage certificate. Research of family background suggests that this is likely, though it is possible that what was intended was 'near Brantford'. Cyrus and Mary Margaret were still in Caradoc at the time of the 1881 census. Their son, Francis (George James) is shown as their youngest. Their next child Ira, born in 1882, is recorded as being born in Michigan. It seems reasonable to say that between spring of 1881 and August of 1882, the family moved to Michigan: Cyrus Coleman 37, born Ontario, laborer, Episcopal Methodist Mary Coleman, 29, born Ontario, Baptist. Archibald Coleman, 4, born Ontario Baptist. William Coleman, 2, born Ontario, Baptist. Francis Coleman, age less than 1, born Sept., age 6/12, born Ontario, Baptist. |
