NoteA death registration for Michael Muma has not been found. The dates for Michael's birth and death are taken from a transcription of Michael's gravestone as provided by Find-a-Grave. A photo of the stone is not shown. The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid does appear to show Michael's stone as being in Arkona Cemetery, which the Find-a-Grave record does as well.

Microfilm MS700 reel 1 has a census for 1832 for Dumfries Township, east of the Grand River. In this are shown a Samuel Muma, a John Muma, and a Jacob Muma. The writing for the concessions and lots is faint, but Samuel is apparently on concession 1, lot 8; John appears to be on concession 8, lot 6; and Jacob appears to be on concession 1, lot 5. This may or may not be accurate and abstract indexes have not been checked.

See Men of Upper Canada, Militia Nominal Rolls, 1828-1829, Elliott, Walker, and Stratford-Devai, Toronto OGS, 1995, page 72. Essentially, this is a list of those enrolled in the sedentary militia. Out of an apparently large family, only a Henry Muma is shown as being enrolled in the 4th Gore Militia. At first glance, this would be surprising for such a large extended family, however it may be said that, among a few other groups, Mennonites were exempt from service. Looking over such census information as can be found, the Muma family seems mainly to have been Mennonite.
