| Note | Charity Deneen Lawrason is the sister of Mary Denean Able who also appears in this tree. Mary was married to David Able. Charity is buried at Troy Cemetery with her husband. Also in Troy Cemetery are David Able and his wife Mary. By way of the death registration of Mary's daughter Harriet we now know that Mary was a Dineen, or Deneen. There was also a Samuel Deneen in Troy for a few years in the 1820s and 30s. Samuel may be a sibling, but this isn't known with any certainty. Charity's death registration is 020039-84. 1884 was the year her death was registered, though she died on December 25, 1883. Charity's death is early enough that there were no lines on the death registration form for the names of her parents. The date for Charity's burial at Troy Cemetery is calculated from two articles in the December 28th, 1883 issue of the Brantford Expositor. The stone for Thomas and Charity in Troy Cemetery is in poor condition. There is some confusion regards young children of Thomas and Charity and apparently buried with them. Harley Misener's 1969 transcription of Troy Cemetery shows a daughter Ruth as dying 2 February 1864 at the age of 1 yr, 5 mos., 23 dys. The problem with this is that in 1863, 1862 earliest, Charity would have been 58 years of age. It does not seem reasonable that she is the mother of Ruth. Either the quality of the inscription has deteriorated sufficiently that the dates are no longer clear and so it would appear that Ruth was born much earlier, or she was adopted after the death of Thomas. The latter possibility seems unlikely. Also transcribed, however, is a Ruth Lawrason, child of John Purvis Lawrason and Sarah Crane. She was born in 1862 and died in 1864. There is some possibility that this is one and the same child, but the wording on the stone of Charity and Thomas remains a problem. For the present, this tree records Ruth, the daughter of John Purvis Lawrason and Sarah Crane. Listing Ruth, the possible daughter of Charity and Thomas, may be done in the future if further information is found. |
