| Note | Birth reg. 038227-87 Saltfleet Twp., Wentworth Co. Irene Jardine born 31 October, 1885. Parents Joseph W. Jardine, farmer, and Ella Fedora Lewis. Informant A.C. Jones, Stoney Creek. Registered on 10th June, 1887. In terms of Irene's stated age, 23, at the time she married in 1908, a birth year of 1885 does appear to be correct. Her birth was registered some two years after the fact. Late birth registrations are not uncommon, but they usually occur many years later when the person, as an adult, requires some sort of identification and it is found that the birth was not previously registered. |
