The January 12, 1859, issue of the Dumfries Reformer shows the marriage of Emma Illiger to Richard Lawrason on 31 December, 1858, at Galt by Rev. Dr. Bayne, Emma the 2nd daughter of Mrs. Illiger.

DeathHe died on 27 September 1876 at Teeswater, Bruce Co..
NoteHe The 1861 census shows Richard and 'Mary' in Preston. He is shown as Richard Larison, a manufacturer. The Dumfries Reformer issue notes the birth of a son to Richard. This appears in the 17 September 1862 edition, but dates the birth as 11 September 1862. This notice is likely for the birth of Richard Oscar. Some census records suggest that Richard Oscar was a bit older, but a birth year of 1862 is likely correct.

According to Mitchell & Co. Canada Classified Directory of 1865-66, Richard Lawrason was in Walton, Huron County and listed on a page for carriage and wagon makers.

In the 1871 census, Richard and 'Emma' are in Grey Township of Huron County, and four sons are with them. Richard is shown as a wagon maker.

Richard died in 1876 at Teeswater.

Death reg. 001616-76 Teeswater, Bruce Co.
Richard Lawrason died 27 September, 1876. Aged 39 yrs., 10 mos. Mechanic. Born Ontario. Cause of death consumption. Church of England. Informant Rev. Barrett, Teeswater.

It should be said that the will of Richard's sister, Mary Lavina Lawrason Thomson, makes it clear that Richard's sons are her nephews.

Photo essays of Teeswater Cemetery seem to indicate that no readable stone has survived. A transcription of this cemetery was done in 1977 by the Bruce and Grey branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and this does appear to place both Richard and Mariah in the cemetery, but no dates are shown, which might indicate worn stones. There are also two other names in the plot, but they are shown in such a way that it may represent some sort of discontinuity in terms of what is readable.

The plot reads:

Richard Lawrason
his wife Maria
Emilia son of Thos Wilson
W C Atkinson d 1904.

Children of Richard Lawrason and Mariah Emilia Illegar
