| Note | Ten years after the death of her husband Charles, Jennie Chant, age 49, married Thomas Charles Broder, age 48, bricklayer, in Woodstock. Thomas' residence and place of birth is given as Woodstock. Jennie E. Lawrason's residence is given as Woodstock and her place of birth as Brantford. He is shown as a bachelor and she was a widow. The handwriting for the parents' names is cramped and difficult to read, but his father is shown as Thomas Broder and his mother as Catherine illeg. Her parents are shown as John Chant and Anne illeg. The witnesses were Joseph Hatch of Woodstock and Sarah H. Voaden of Woodstock. The marriage was on 12 April 1905, registration 015157-05. The clergyman was W.B. Smith. The 1911 census shows the Broders in Woodstock. With them is Jennie's son Lloyd, though his last name appears to be spelled something like Larrison. The ink on the page is not in good condition and the enumerator's handwriting difficult. The death information for son Lloyd Ellis Lawrason in 1918, indicates that Jennie was living in Toronto. Her death notice appeared in the 10 January 1936 edition of the Toronto Star. Lawrason-Broder On Thursday, January 9, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Eric Haines, 305 Waverly Road, Jane Elizabeth Chant, relict of the late Charles Lawrason and sister of Mrs. Thomas Voaden, Mr. C.W., Joe and John Chant, and grandmother of Mrs. Daisy Band and Mrs. Thelma Newby, aged 81 years. Funeral from the above address Saturday, January 11 at 3.30PM. Interment St. Johns Cemetery. St. John's Cemetery, in this case, refers to St. John's Norway Cemetery, near the foot of Kingston Road. |
