Note | Death reg. 009708-92 South Grimsby, Lincoln County. Elizabeth Lawrason, age 50, died 7 March 1892. Born Ontario. Informant Miller B. Lawrason, South Grimsby. The Brantford Library has an index for the Brantford Weekly Expositor for the issue of 11 March, 1892, for Elizabeth Purvis Lawrason. This seems to be for Elizabeth, the wife of Miller Betzner Lawrason. At first glance, we are left wondering if Miller had at some level married a cousin, but this is probably not the case. At the time of the 1900 census at Beloit, Wisconsin, Silas and his wife Isabella are there and Silas is shown as running, or working at, a laundry. Silas and Isabella live near the Purves family, one of whom is in the laundry business. Also present is a Thomas Purves, capitalist, who is shown as being born in Canada. He may be the Thomas Purves who is shown as a labourer in South Dumfries Township in 1861 and evidently working for Titus Lawrason, the brother Miller Betzner Lawrason. |
