Note | A transcription of Amelia's inscription on the family gravestone in St. George says that she died on 14 May 1837 at the age of 44 years and 8 days. Her date of birth is calculated from this. Beyond Amelia's gravestone, we also have the following: See Vol. 1, Death Notices From The Christian Guardian, 1836 to 1850, Donald A. McKenzie, Global Heritage Press, 2008, page 185. Lawrason, Mrs., consort of John Lawrason, died at Dumfries, May 14, 1837. Issue of June 28, 1837, page 135. Amelia was the daughter of Titus Simons and Jerusha Kingsley. She appears to have been a full sister of Titus Geer Simons who ran a general store and that his brother-in-law, John Purvis Lawrason, had an acount there and this account spans the years 1817-1823. (Refer to Delores MacIntyre's work, Some Records of the Lawrason Family.) |
