Phelinda Wooley was first married to George Jackson. Their marriage registration indicates that they were married in Ancaster Township on June 30, 1870. George was 48, a farmer residing in Beverly, and a widower. He was born in England and his parents were George and Ann Jackson. 'Filinda' is age 35, a spinster, and her parents are shown as James and Ellen Wooley.
The 1871 census at Beverly shows George Jackson with wife Philinda with sons George 7 and Henry 6. They are George's son by his first wife, Isabella Tindall.
What happened to George isn't clear, but he is probably the George Jackson who is in Flamborough-Rockton Cemetery. The inscription reads:
George Jackson died Sept. 23, 1877/aged 60 yrs., 10 mos., 3 dys/a native of Co. Northumberland, England.
Also, his death registration offers us little context, but, again, he is probably Phelinda's husband.
It states that he died in Beverly Township on September 23, 1877, as the result of injuries sustained by being thrown out of a wagon. Township clerk, Wallace McDonald, has written a note at the bottom, only a portion of which is decipherable.
