David Wesley Cumming
ID # 2659, (1841-1899)
Father | John Cumming (1804-1867) |
Mother | Elizabeth Able (1813-1882) |
Birth | David Wesley Cumming was born in 1841 at Beverly Township. |
Marriage | He married Eliza J. Fisher on 16 September 1862 at Wentworth County. MS248 reel 17, Vol. 82, page 84 Wentworth County Rev. Geo. Hunt of the M.E. Church David W. Cumming, 21, born and residing Beverly. Parents John and Elizabeth Cumming. Eliza J. Fisher, 19, born and residing Beverly. Parents Robert and Elizaberth. Witnesses U.V. Drake, Brantford and Mary Cumming, Beverly. On Sep 16, 1862. The month of the marriage is faintly written. 'Sep' seems a reasonable interpretation. |
Death | He died in 1899. |
Burial | He was buried at St. John's Cathedral Anglican Cemetery, Winnipeg. |
Note | He Looking over two transcription records for the marriage of David Cumming and Eliza Jane Fisher, David's middle initial is rendered as an H. This will reasonably be a handwriting issue. It's evident that at some point David and Eliza Jane went to Manitoba. They are in North Dumfries of Waterloo County in 1871, but by 1881, they are in Manitoba. CanGenweb presents a photo of the gravestone of David and Eliza, and David died in 1899. To the point, his middle name is presented as Wesley. A gravestone in Troy Cemetery also provides support for this. It reads: Mary Lizetta Cumming/died Apr. 13, 1872/aged 9 yrs. 5 mos. & 19 dys./eldest dau. of D.W. & Eliza Jane. The grave for David and Eliza Jane is in St. John's Cathedral Anglican Cemetery in Winnipeg. The inscription as shown in photo on CanGenWeb is barely readable, but the inscription for David Wesley Cumming shows his birth and death as 1843 - 1899; for Eliza Jane it shows 1843 - 1922. |
