Note | Such records as we have conflict with regard the birth years of Wesley and his sister Harriett. Wesley is presented as being born 1 May 1825 and Harriet in June of 1825. This will be a year off for one or the other. Wesley is shown in this tree as being born in 1825 and that of Harriet as a year later. One or the other will be wrong. Able daughter of Norman & Jessie Able born Sept 25, 1876 died Dec 15, 1960; side; Norman Able Sept 1, 1940 aged 85 yr;Jessie Laidlaw beloved wife of Norman Able died Sept 30, 1923 aged 63yrs; The following is from the Brantford Expositor, May 8, 1885 Wesley ABEL: the death of Wesley Abel, an old and respected resident of the East Ward in this city, occurred at his late home, on the corner of Arthur and Pearl streets, on Friday at 11 o'clock. Deceased was born in the township of Beverly, about a mile east of Troy, on May 1st, 1825, and was consequently precisely 60 years of age. When 28 years of age he married Miss Phoebe Mulholland, who with one son (married) and a daughter at home survive him. The family resided in Beverly until some nine years ago, when they removed to this city. He was devout member of the Congregational Church, and took great interest in all affairs of church and state. In politics he was a thorough Liberal. Our subject was in efficient circumstances and leaves his family well provided for. During the past two weeks he had been confined to his bed, and thought he knew his end was approaching, yet no murmurs escaped him and he died happy. The funeral took place on Monday, may 4, to Greenwood Cemetery at 2 o'clock. Unquote. |
