Hugh A. Mulholland died January 20, 1907. Residence George Street. Gentleman. Born Canada. Methodist. Physician and Informant Dr. A. Hawk.

Hugh's death registration isn't very informative and his age is not given. However, Hugh's date of death as reported on his death registration agrees with the date of death as it appears on his gravestone in Troy Cemetery. The cemetery was transcribed in 1989 by the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and much earlier, in 1969, by Harley Misener.

The Troy cemetery transcription shows Hugh who died in 1907 as being buried in the same plot as son Judson Mulholland. Hugh's date of death, Jan. 20, 1907, is followed by his age which is shown as 83 yrs., 11 mos., 3 dys. This calculates to a date of birth as 17 February, 1823. Such might be open to argument and the calculation considered approximate, but Hugh is with his daughter, Adelaide Howey, in Galt as of the 1901 census and his date of birth is indeed shown as 17 February, 1823.

Harley Misener, in 1969, also transcribed graves for Mulholland, Hugh, born Schoharie County, NY. 15 May 1777 d. 6 Aug 1865. / His wife Mary Abel? 91y 9m 11d

The question mark following 'Abel' is Harley's and then followed by Mary's age. This Hugh and Mary appear elsewhere in this tree as the parents of George Mulholland, 1814-1873. Harley seems to have had at least partially readable stones as of 1969. Looking over the 1861 census for Beverly in the Troy area, this is reasonable, though obituary information tells us that the wife of Hugh who died in 1865 was Mary Wedge.

A History of the People of Troy, 1947, The Women's Institute of Troy, Ontario, on page 24, presents a brief Mulholland tree. It describes a Hugh Mulholland coming to Canada from the state of New Jersey. It describes him as settling on lot 9 concession 2 in 1810. It goes on to say that Hugh Jr. married Lucinda Misner, a sister of Nicholas and Walter Misener. The Misener tree on page 25 of this same publication describes Lucinda as the daughter of Conrad Misener (a brother of Adam Misener) and his wife Elizabeth Wells.

In short, it seems to place Hugh Mulholland (Jr.), the husband of Lucinda Misener, as the son of Hugh Mulholland and Mary Wedge. With the available information, it seems probable that Hugh, the husband of Lucinda Misener, was the 3rd generation of Hugh's. This is still being researched.

Beyond this, the first Hugh Mulholland to come to Beverly was said in his obituary to have several sons and daughters, so we have more children to add to the list.
