Death reg. 012598-91 Stratford, Perth County Harry Campbell Bookless, died 9 January, 1891, 8 years, 10 mos., 7 days. Informant George Bookless. George's profession is poorly written, but may be hotel keeper. Harry Campbell Bookless is buried next to the graves of his grandparents, Jessie and John Bookless, in Section E of Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph. His grave is designated as 19-16. It reads: Harry Campbell, son of George and Sabrina Bookless, died at Stratford, January 9th, 1891. aged 8 years, 10 months and 7 days. Forgive me Lord, my restless grief/ Forgive me that this rebel, selfish heart/ Would almost make me jealous for my child/ Though my own lap enthroned him. Lord, thou hast/ So many such! I have -- ah! had but one! A second stone, possibly the back of the above stone, in section, 20-12, was begun for Harry's parents. It reads: George Bookless/ 1841-1931/ Harry/Bookless The transcription follows with the names of two Bookless children, evidently not those of George and Sabina. From the context, it appears that Sabrina's name was never entered. No evidence has been found that George and Sabina had any other children. |
