NoteThe following needs more research, however it appears that Ralph Morden was in Ancaster Township as late as 1840. He petitioned the crown for land based on the fact that his father was an enrolled United Empire Loyalist. According to this petition (C-2220, Ancaster, 1840, Vol. 367, Bundle M 2, petition 24), his father was Daniel Morden.

An interesting appendice was written to this petition by James Durand of Dundas in 1843. (He will be James Durand Jr.) He confirms Ralph's identity and goes on to say that Ralph is the son of Daniel Morden of West Flamboro in the Gore District. He says (in 1843) that he is probably more than the majority age of 21, more like five and twenty and that he is married and has three children. This helps identify Ralph as the person of our interest in that by 1843 he had at least three children or four not long after.

Petition information for Daniel Morden indicates that the family was in Sussex County, New Jersey, prior to moving to Upper Canada.

Death reg. 028540-00 Peel Twp., Wellington Co.
Ralph Mordan died Oct 14, 1900. Age 87, Episcopalian. Residence Concession A, lot 14. Married. Born Ontario. Informant Henry Morden.

Ralph's death registration states that he is married. Rather more likely is that he was a widower. A marriage registration for him after the death of Mary Ann in 1883 has not been found. At the time of the 1891 census, he is age 78 and with son Henry in Luther West Township in Wellington County. In this census he is shown as a widower.
