| Note | The 1851 census taken in Garafraxa Township in Wellington County, shows Erent Morden, age 13. One might question the handwriting, except that his grandfather, Arents Schuyler Depeyster Vrooman, appears on the same page. Arents name is shown as Erent D. Vrooman and the handwriting is all by one and the same enumerator. We must believe that 'Erent' Morden was named after his grandfather.
The 1860 U.S. census taken at Seneca Falls, Seneca County, New York, on the 28th June, 1860, shows an A. Morden, male, age 22, born Canada, machinist. He is residing, perhaps as a boarder, in the home of Malissa Van Valkner. He is the only one in the household from Canada and we have no context to work with. No sure record for Erent, or Arents, or Aaron (his grandfather was sometimes known as Aaron in his own lifetime) has been found after the 1851 census. |
