     William Allen Houtchens was born in November 1858 in Kentucky.1 He married first Mary Ida Southerland in 1885.2,1 William Allen Houtchens appears in the Missoula, Montana, city directories in 1901 and 1905. In 1907 he appears in the Spokane, Washington directory.3,4 He was left a widower when Mary Ida Southerland died on 19 January 1909.2 He married second Viloria Ross, daughter of Dr Luther Ross and Melissa B Clapp, about 1911 probably in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, where they were both living at the time.5 He died on 21 April 1912 in Spokane, Washington, at age 53.6,7 He was buried in Missoula Cemetery, Missoula, Missoula County, MontanaG.8
