Ella Florence Graves

     Ella Florence Graves was born on 28 June 1858 in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.1,2 She was the daughter of Roswell Graves and Eugenia C Clapp.1 She married first Albert George Oldham on 5 June 1878 in Little Shasta, Siskiyou County, California.3,4 She lived in San Francisco, San Francisco County, California, on 17 September 1888.5 Ella became a Seventh Day Adventist about 1892.2 She married second Luther A Ross, son of Dr Luther Ross and Melissa B Clapp, on 12 September 1892 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah.6 She and Luther A Ross lived in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana, from abt 1893 until after1900.2 She lived in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, on 5 November 1909.7 During May 1916, Ella sold 232 pounds of cream to the Enumclaw Co-operative Creamery for $23.27. (Enumclaw is about 4 miles north of Buckley where she and Luther were living.)8 She died on 19 September 1938 of breast cancer. in Spangle, Spokane County, Washington, at age 80.9,10

Ella's obituary in the The Spokesman Review on 20 September 1938 read:
"ELLA F ROSS: Spokane; Passed away Sep 19 in this city. Her home was at S1325 Garfield. Mother of George A Oldham - Spokane WA; Mrs Florence Butterfield - Milton OR; sister of Mrs Lilly Summers - Tonasket; Mrs Alice Broder - Seattle; Mrs May Sealock - Sebastobol CA; 3 grandchildren, 5 gr-grandchildren. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Hazen & Jarger Funeral Home."
On 21 Sep additional information was published: "Sister of Mr Bert Graves - Drain OR; Funeral Thursday Sep 22 from the Gothic Chapel of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home. Elder Jacobs & Elder Martin officiating. Interment Riverside Park Cem."11,10



Ella's obituary in The North Pacific Union Gleaner on 21 January 1939 read:
"Ross -- Ella Florence Groves [sic]-Ross was born in Wisconsin, June 28, 1858; and died in Spokane, Washington, September 19, 1958. While living in Butte, Montana about 46 years ago she accepted the third angel's message and remained faithful to the end. She is survived by one son, George Oldham of Spokane, one daughter, Mrs Florence Butterfield of Milton, Oregon, and three grandchildren."2

She was buried on 22 September 1938 in Riverside Park Cemetery, Spokane, Spokane County, WashingtonG; note: per cemetery office she is buried here, but there is no marker.10
