Jean Dickson
Parents James Dickson and Hannah Murdoch
Birth date not given.
Date of baptism 15 March, 1826
Place of baptism Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland

Jane does not appear with the family as enumerated in the 1841 or 1851 Scottish censuses; she does appear with her family as the oldest child present in the 1861 census in Puslinch Township, Wellington County, Canada West. Her baptism information certainly makes it clear that she was the daughter of James Dickson and Hannah Murdoch as does her marriage registration.

Jane appears in the 1901 census as Jane Dickieson (Dickieson being her married name - this was betimes written as Dickenson). She is in North Dumfries Township in Waterloo County with her daughter Agnes and her son-in-law, George Elvin. Her date of birth is written as 15 March, 1826. Considering that our best information is that this was her baptism date, this does appear to be unlikely, but as an infant did she have a weak start? Perhaps her date of birth was the same as her date of baptism.
