Born Canada, residing Galt. Parents illeg. Purdy and Francis illeg. McConnell. Mary Ellen Elliott, 21, spinster, Presbyterian. Born illeg. (probably says Torongo, but it's illegible), residing Galt. Parents Thomas Elliott and Elizabeth Ellen Golds. Witnesses Maggie and Jennie Dickson, both of Galt. On 17th December, 1912, at Galt, by Rev. J. A. R. Dickson, Presbyterian. Rev Dickson was minister at Central Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Melville and Main Streets on the west side of the Grand River. Edward's place of birth is faded and almost illegible. At first glance, it appears to say Guelph, but on more careful examination it is actually shown as Canada. This latter would be unusual. |

Informant Thomas Elliot, 114 Ulster Street, Toronto. (Filed March 22, 1892) The 1921 census shows Mary with her husband, Edward Purdy, at 27 Todd Street in Galt. With them are two sons, Frederick age 5, and William age 1. Mary and Edward are buried beside Mary's sister, Margaret Jane Elliott, and her husband Emerson Snyder. |
