Andrew Dryden
ID # 9721, (1817-1879)
Father | Andrew Dryden (1779-1848) |
Mother | Janet Cairns (1787-1864) |
Birth | Andrew Dryden was born on 30 September 1817 at Scotland. |
Marriage | He married Elizabeth Kennedy. A church record for the marriage of Andrew and Elizabeth might possibly found, but it is unlikely that a public registration will be found. It does seem that the Dryden family came to the Gore District in Upper Canada prior 1842. The only available civil marriage records that exist date from 1842 and not prior. There is evidence aplenty that there was a marriage register for the Gore well prior to 1842, but that at some point it disappeared. |
Death | He died on 21 January 1879 at North Dumfries Township, Waterloo Co., at age 61. |
Burial | He was buried on 23 January 1879 at Galt Cemetery, Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario. |
Note | A death registration for Andrew has not been found. The following information is taken from Norma Huber's 2001 work: Funeral Notice Cards of Waterloo County, 1851 to 1980, as published by the Waterloo Regional branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. This tells that Andrew died in North Dumfries on Tuesday, January 21, 1879. His funeral was on Thursday (January 23). His residence is given as lot 22 in the 9th concession. He was buried in the Galt Cemetery (later known as Mountview.) The funeral card also gives his age as 61 years, 3 months, 21 days. His date of birth, 30 September, 1817, is calculated from this. |
