| Marriage | He married Nancy Betzner on 20 April 1856. Pages 247 and 248 of Ezra Eby's Vol. 1, biographical histories of Waterloo Township, 1895, records the marriage of Anna (Nancy) Betzner, the daughter of John Betzner and Mary Bechtel, to Samuel Kinzie on April 20, 1856. Another record for this marriage has not been found and Eby does not tell the location of the marriage. Eby goes on to say that they moved to about one mile north of St. Jacobs and still resided there as of when he recorded the brief history for them that he provides. He did go on to say that they had no issue. The 1861 census for Woolwich Township shows that with Samuel and Nancy are two of the children of Samuel's sister Franey and her husband Nelson Newcombe. They were Charles Newcombe, age 12, and Louisa Newcombe, age 8. The 1861 census shows the couple as Mennonite. |
