Note | When Anna married Reinhard Preiss in 1904, her surname was given as Barth. She was, however, shown as a widow and we may take it that Barth was her surname by her first marriage, which has yet to be found. One of the witnesses for her marriage to Reinhard was Grace Barth, who, per Grace's marriage record in 1910 to James McCardle, shows her father to have been Frank Barth and her mother Anna Fellner. Anna also had a son, Frank Joseph Barth. He married in 1917 and his marriage registration shows his parents as Frank Barth and Annie Feldner. Anna's first marriage registration has yet to be found. For the moment her maiden name is shown as Fellner, based on a database of cemetery records making the name Fellner rather more likely. This is subject to change. The 1901 census as enumerated in Berlin (Ontario) shows Frank and Anne Barth, ages 50 and 45, both born in Germany. Their eldest child, May, born in 1884, is also shown as being born in Germany. The census says that they came to Canada in 1889. Anna died in Kitchener in 1925. Her son was the informant of her death. A place of burial for her has not been found. |
