On 17th Feb., 1909, at (North) Dumfries, Waterloo, by Banns. Clergyman C. Lucas of Preston, Ont. Rev. Charles Lucas was the minister at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Preston. The marriage was registered in North Dumfries Township and probably was held at a family farm. Esther's mother's maiden name appears on the registration, quite clearly typed, as Whipner. This is probably a problem with the clergyman's handwriting, for her correct surname was Witmer. |

| Note | A birth registration for Henry has not been found. The records of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Preston have been searched for a record of baptism, but none found. Henry's date of birth as it appears in the 1901 census at North Dumfries is 6th August, 1882 or 1883 (the writing of the year is unclear.) On his gravestone in Blair Cemetery, his year of birth is shown as 1884. Henry and Esther's years of death are taken from a transcription of Old Blair Cemetery as done by the Waterloo branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Unless an obituary is found, their places of death are not presently known. What may be said is that as of the 1940 voters' list, Henry and Esther were located in North Dumfries Township and as of the voters' list for 1974, Esther was in an apartment in Preston. |
