Length of residence at place of death 4 months. Parental names not given. Physician Dr. MacKendrick of Preston Galt. Informant Henry Rhodey of Blair, son. Place of burial Preston on January 6, 1924. That the registration shows Dr. MacKendrick as being of Preston Galt is odd. He was a Galt doctor. His office was on Dickson Street. The 1901 census as recorded in North Dumfries Township shows Mary's date of birth to be Feb 23, 1851. Census information is consistent in placing her birth in Germany. Mary's maiden name is found variously spelled, but is 'Schaff' on her gravestone in Section F of Preston Cemetery, and so is shown as such here. Image 912 of the records of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Preston, shows the death of Mrs. Mary Rhodey (John) on January 3rd, 1924, at Galt. It shows her burial in Preston on January 6th, 1924, Sunday afternoon. All of which agrees with the above death registration, but, the point being here is that it's evident that Mary funeral was held by St. Peter Lutheran Church in Preston and considering that the church's minister at the time was William H. Knauff, he probably was the officiating minister for the service. |
