| Note | Duncan Shepherd's obituary tells that he had by his first wife five daughters and one son. Son William died in childhood. It is claimed that three daughters went to Michigan. That this was so for daughters Marjery and Margaret is reasonably verifiable. Daughter Agnes may have been another, but convincing proof is needed. Daughters Janet and Elizabeth are two that likely did not survive childhood. If this is so, then they are likely buried in the old First Church Cemetery which was razed in the mid 1880s. Many stones and remains were removed to Mountview Cemetery on the west side of town, but not all, and no old Shepherd gravestones survive. |
