NoteJohn and Cynthia were in Beverly Township at the time of the 1881 census. By the time of the 1900 census in Michigan, the family is at Barry, Woodland Twp. With them is daughter Mildred born in Michigan. Wesley is shown as John Lawrason, with enumerators' marks over what appears to be an initial. He is a widower and there is no indication as to when Cynthia died, but Mildred was born in 1883. According to a later census, the family went to the U.S. in 1882.

John Wesley Lawrason was, at some remove, a cousin of Cynthia Buckberrough, his wife. His parents were John Purvis Lawrason and Sarah Crane who are buried at Troy; his grandparents were Thomas Lawrason and Charity Deneen, also buried at Troy; and his great grandparents were Miller Lawrason and Elizabeth Purvis who are buried in St. George Cemetery.

Miller Lawrason was brother to Elizabeth Lawrason who married John Coleman; Elizabeth was the mother of Sarah Coleman who married George Buckberrough; they in turn were the parents of James Coleman Buckberrough, who was the father of Cynthia.
