A further endorsement after the list of marriages shows Rev. John James to be the minister of Dumfries Street Presbyterian Church at Paris, Ontario. Rosemary Ambrose has transcribed marriage notices as they appeared in the Dumfries Reformer from this era. The Reformer edition of January 30, 1867, records the marriage of John McAuslan and Christie Carrick, both of Galt, on 23 January, 1867. The marriage was held at the residence John Chisholm of South Dumfries and was conducted by Rev. John James. |
