GS2987 First Church, Galt, nbr. 32 After publication of banns in Dumfries on 26th July 1837 Robert Carrick and Christian Campbell, both of Dumfries Witnesses John Chisholme and Malcolm Campbell One transcription of the above marriage shows Robert's surname as Curnick. This is a reasonable transcription based on Rev. James Strang's handwriting, but Christy's gravestone in the St. Andrew's Pergola shows her as the wife of Robert Carrick. An examination of Strang's handwriting shows that Carrick is as reasonable an interpretation of Robert's name as is Curnick. |
