Parents John and Agnes. Witness H. T. Wismer of Louth. On Feby. 1, 1859 The registrar's handwriting is very poor. Jacob's marriage to Barbara Kratz shows his parents to be John and Elizabeth. This is a reasonable interpretation. His marriage to Agnes looks rather more as though his parents were Jacob and Elizabeth. Casting back to the 1851 census in Clinton Township, 18 year old Jacob is with parents John and Elizabeth. Since the handwriting on this registration is, at the least, questionable, and since Elizabeth Hancocks in her index for the county marriages of Lincoln & Welland reads the parents for both of Jacob's marriages as John and Elizabeth, it is shown as the same here. | Note | A death registration for Jacob has not been found. Jacob's gravestone in Campden Mennonite Cemetery simply dates his death to December, 1894. The Herald of Truth edition of 1 January, 1895, dates his death to 4th of December, 1894, 'near Campden'. Agnes Wismer, Jacob's first wife died 'near Jordan'. Campden is in Clinton Township and Jordan is in Louth Township. For the moment, the best we may say is that they both died in Lincoln County. |
