Note | By the time of the 1871 census in Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario, Thirza's surname is Mann. She has with her a son, Alexander, age 1. She is shown as married. A husband by the name of Mann has not been found. A death registration for John Frederick Southgate has not been found. John was a sailor and may not have died in England. Son Alexander did marry - in Windsor, Ontario, in 1891. He tells that his father's name was John Mann. And, for the moment, this is all the information so far found for John Mann. Thirza married again in December of 1882 in Detroit to Alexander Robertson. The 1890 U.S. census was destroyed by fire and so Thirza does not appear again until the 1900 U.S. census, in Detroit, and with her is a son, age 16, by the name of Charles H. Robertson. His birth is recorded as being in October of 1883 in Michigan. Considering the information provided, it's reasonable to say that the following death registration is for Thirza: State of Michigan Vital Statistics Place of death Detroit Theresa Robertson died Dec. 23, 1912. Borb Jan. 22, 1838, England. Parents William Clark and Sarah Street, both born England Informant A. C. Mann, Detroit. Burial Dec. 26, 1912, 'Luthern'. Best as can be seen, for the moment, there are two Lutheran cemeteries in Detroit. |
