Father | Valentine Feick (1807-1888) |

Birth | Anna Margaret Feick was born on 14 January 1845 at Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. |

MS248 reel 6, Vol. 13, page 54 Grey County Marriage Register Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Christian Behrens, a minister of the Synod of Canada of the Lutheran Church for the year ending 31st Day of December, A.D. 1862 Adam Grein, 30, born Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, residing Normanby Township. Parents Henry Grein and Elizabeth Peter. Anna Margaret Feick, 17, born Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, residing Normanby Township. Parents Vallentin Feick and Katharina Schulin. Witnesses George Metzger and Barbara ...illeg..., both of Normanby. On March 4, 1862. The groom's surname is probably not precisely rendered as Grein. This transcription is provided by Elizabeth Hancocks, C.G., in her County Marriages of Ontari9o, 1858-1869, Vol. 33, Grey County. (This is rather more in the way of an index.) Certainly, 'Grein' is rendered as such in later documents and it is how the name is shown on Adam and Margaret's gravestones. See notes for Margaret's mother for the rendering of the name Schul/Schuler/Schulin. |
Death | She died on 3 February 1929 at Hanover, Bentinck Twp., Grey County, at age 84. |
Burial | She was buried on 7 February 1929 at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran, Normanby Twp.. |
Note | Death reg. 016197-29 Hanover, Grey County Margaretta Grein died Feb 3, 1929. Widowed. Age 84 yrs and 20 days. Date of birth Jan. 14, 1845. (Place of birth not given.) Housewife. Parents Val Feick and Katherine Schull, both born Germany. Physician Dr. G. B. Stalker. Informant August Lantz, Hanover, nephew. Burial Hanover Feb. 7, 1929. Anna Margaret's death registration tells that she was buried in Hanover. The Bruce-Grey branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, however, provides excellent transcriptions of their cemeteries and there is a stone in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Normanby Township which reads as follows: Grein Anna Margaretha Feick, wife of Adam Grein, 1845-1929 In the Lutheran cemeteries of at least the Grey County area, spouses can certainly be found buried together. This isn't sufficiently common, however, to call it typical. Anna Margaretha is buried by herself. As a further note, some care should be taken when looking at burials for Grein children of Adam and Anna. Also buried in St. Paul's are an Adam Grein and Anna Wettlaufer. Anna died in 1928. |
