On June 29, 1904, at Galt, by Rev, E. E. Scott.

Note that when Edward's brother Wellington was married in 1896 at Ainslie Street Methodist, the clergyman was J. G. Scott. He was at Ainslie Street from 1893 to 1896. Rev. E. E. Scott was at Ainslie from 1903 to 1905.

Also note that Edward's middle name, Carmen, appears as an approximation of Learman on the form. This will surely be a handwriting problem, probably on the part of the clergyman. With some degree of confidence, we take Edward's middle name of Carmen from Wellington Roelofson's Short History of the Roelofson Family as it appears on page 28 of A History of the People of Troy, 1947, compiled by the Women's Institute of Troy. Wellington states that a Dr. Carmen, a Methodist clergyman, was a frequent visitor at the home of John and Mercy Roelofson and this was the inspiration for Edward's middle name. Since the name appears twice in the text, we must believe it to be correct.

The Methodist church at Troy was Episcopal Methodist. Dr. Albert Carmen rose to high office in the church and was instrumental in effecting church union with other Methodist denominations in Canada in later years.
