Hope, Brantford, June 7, 1943. Sarah and Benson's marriage registration has her place of birth as Burford. Her death registration only records her birth as being in Ontario, but does provide her birth date. This agrees with her birth registration as it appears in Caradoc Township in Middlesex County. The family was still in Caradoc as of the 1881 census. By the time of the 1891 census, the family was in Burford Township and they were enumerated immediately following the household of Thomas and Jane Ann Rutherford and their son, Benson Rutherford. This census shows Benson as 14 and Sarah Jane Burgess as 13. Sarah Jane's parents, Edward D. Burgess and his wife Sarah Jane are buried in Section S of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, London. |
