| Note | Elizabeth Eleanor Holmes may have been born in Wainfleet Township of Welland County, as stated on her marriage registration. The 1871 census, however, shows her family to be in Gainsborough of Lincoln County. The two townships border, being separated only by the Welland River/Chippawa Creek. This census also shows Elizabeth's father, Dilly Holmes, to be a merchant. There are some farmers enumerated on the same two pages that comprise the image, but there are enough tradesmen to suggest that they are in some setting of at least village size. Wellandport might be a guess. The marriage of Elizabeth's parents has been found. They were Dilly Coleman Holmes and Jane Old. Dilly is shown as being born in Wellandport and to be residing in Canada West. This has the look of being a reversal. That he was born Canada West and residing in Wellandport makes rather more sense, though of course this is just a guess. The Holmes-Old marriage was held in Haldimand County. Death reg. 014469-48 Dundas, Wentworth Co. Elizabeth Eleanor Bloodsworth died at 11 Dundas Street, Dundas, Ontario, on April 5, 1948. Residence Dunnville, Haldimand County. Widowed. Born Ontario on 9 April, 1866, age 81. Retired. Husband late Rev. Jacob A. Bloodsworth. Father Dilla (Dilly) C. Holmes, mother Jane Old, both born Ontario. Physician Clarence R. Bates.
