Mary Elizabeth Husband
ID # 7468, (1842-1914)
Father | George Husband (-1846) |
Mother | Susan Hoowee (1813-1884) |
Birth | Mary Elizabeth Husband was born in 1842 at Pelham Township, Niagara District. |
Marriage | She married James William Fuller on 15 November 1863 at Haldimand County. MS248 reel 7, Vol. 15, page 85. Haldimand County Marriage Register Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by James M. Bates, Baptist Minister of W. Healy, for the year ending 31st December, A.D. 1863. James Fuller, 25, born Sussex, England, residing Townsend. Parents Robert Fuller and Anne Fuller. Mary E. Husband, 21, born Pelham, residing Gainsboro. Parents George and Susan Husband. Witnesses Wm Goff and A. W. Thompson of W. Healy. On 15 November, 1863. (Locale, W. Healy, abbreviated and not understood or yet found) The given name of the groom's mother, shown here as Anne, is ill-written. It might almost be anything, but comparisons with handwriting elsewhere on the page seems to make the name Anne, or Ann. A note here: The marriage was recorded in the Haldimand County marriage register, hence we must believe that it was to Haldimand that the clergyman reported, and if he did so correctly then the marriage was indeed in Haldimand. James' residence was next door in Townsend Township of Norfolk County. Did he and Mary cross the county line to Haldimand to marry, or did the clergyman come to Townsend, but then report the marriage to Haldimand. This wasn't supposed to happen, but examples of such happening abound. |
Death | She died on 7 March 1914 at Toronto, York Co.. |
Burial | She was buried on 23 April 1914 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. |
Note | See notes for Husband James: On 12th April, 1871, at Brantford, Mary was delivered of a son, James William Fuller, named after his father. It was Mary who reported the birth to the town clerk on 10th May, 1871. It is interesting to note that the person delivering the child was Mrs. Fuller. Considering census information available (1871 and 1881) we must believe Mrs. Fuller to be Mary's mother-in-law, Ann Fuller. Per the transcription of Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford, we are told that Robert Fuller, James' father, died in 1864 at age 56. Ann Fuller died in 1888 at age 85. Both the 1871 and 1881 censuses show Mary to be with her mother-in-law in Brantford. By 1891, Mary is with son Charles in Toronto. Mary died in Toronto in 1914 and is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Death reg. 002153 Toronto, York Co. Mary Elizabeth Fuller died March 7, 1914, at Wellesley Hospital. Age 74. Widowed. Physician Dr. Evans. Informant Charles Henry Fuller, 106 Kendal Ave. The 1914 burial page for Mount Pleasant Cemetery shows Mary's date of death as March 7, 1914. Her remains were placed in the vault on March 9, but she was not buried until April 23rd. This probably had something to do with winter burials and perhaps frozen ground. She was buried in plot 6, section 68, lot 17. The purchaser of the lot was Charles H. Fuller of 106 Kendal Ave. Son Charles is also buried in the same lot. |
