NoteThe 1851 census for Nassagaweya Township has not survived. The 1861 census shows George Easterbrook, age 39, with wife Caroline, age 21. There are several children in the household, the oldest of whom is Ann, age 14. There are four more siblings, the youngest of whom is Sarah, age 2. Her immediately older sibling is John, age 7. It does appear that George Easterbrook must have married twice. Caroline is simply not old enough to have been the birth mother of the older children. Sarah will certainly be hers. This is made a certainty when we note that the year of marriage column that was in the 1861 census shows George and Caroline marrying in 1858.

George and Caroline are buried in Ebenezer Church cemetery and when the transcription is referred to, we find Mary Easterbrook buried with them. No birth name for Mary is mentioned, but her date of death is given as 28 February, 1856, age 30. We then refer to the Gore District Marriage register, a transcription of which is to hand, but also the original pages as they appears on MS248 reel 1, Vol. 4, page 51. This shows the marriage of George Easterbrook and Mary Youart on 5th February, 1846, witnesses James Easterbrook and Jeremiah Fletcher.

A death registration for George Easterbrook has not been found. His date of death is taken from a transcription of Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Nassagaweya as provided by the Halton-Peel branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. What is to be found is a page from the Acton Free Press, page 2, edition of 24 December, 1903. This has a brief death notice, the reproduction of which is almost unreadable, but does tell that he died in Nassagaweya Township. This is to be found via Halinet.
