Oscar's surname of Dybadskog appears three times on the registration, more or less spelled the same. Oscar and Jean signed the form and he signs his full name as Oscar Julius Dybadskog.

Your researcher is unfamiliar with Scandinavian names, but, noting that his father's given name was John, we must believe that at some point Oscar showed his surname as Johnson, if for no other reason that on Jean's death registration her husband's name is shown as Oscar Julius Johnson.

Census information up to at least the 1911 census shows Jean as Selena J. The 1901 census shows her date of birth as August 11, 1898. Her death registration shows her as Jean Johnson, born August 11, 1898. Since this also clearly shows her parents' names, we must believe that she went by her middle name rather than by 'Selena'.

The clergyman, Christie McDiarmid, appears elsewhere in this tree.

DeathHe died on 18 January 1977 at Chilliwack, B.C., at age 77.
BurialHe was buried at Victory Memorial Park Crematorium, Surrey, B.C..
NoteOscar's death registration shows his place of birth as Hell, Norway. For doubters, yes, there is such a place in Norway. Many years ago, your researcher had occasion to see postmarks from this village.

The following death registration is provided by Familysearch and comes in the form of a transcription, rather than an image:

The Chilliwack Progress of 26 January, 1977, page 9A, carries an obituary for Oscar Julius Johnson, who died on January 21, 1977 (this conflicts with his date of death as it appears on his death registrarion.) It tells that he lived in Chilliwack for the past three years and that he is survived by his wife, Jean, as well as three brothers and three sisters in Norway.

Both Oscar and Jean's obituaries tell that they are interred in Victory Memorial Park Crematorium in Surrey.
