Note | A death registration for Christina/Christiana has not been found. Her date of death, 23 April, 1916, is taken from her gravestone. There is, however, a bit more information. Ancestry has a database: Alberta, Canada, Deaths Index, 1870-1966 This is uninformative to the extent that it simply states that Christina Duncan died at Milk River, Alberta, in 1916. We may note however, that Christina's daughter Margaret married Joseph McKnight of Milk River, Alberta. The evidence isn't ideal, but it seems reasonable that the Christina Duncan who died in Milk River is the same person buried with William Duncan in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery at Newboro in Leeds County. Shipping the remains of persons who died in Western Canada back to Ontario wasn't uncommon. |
