Note | William Warnock's baptism record is to be found at the United Church of Canada Archives. This appears on microfilm LCM-30 which is the imaging of the First Church Baptism book. First Church was one of the Presbyterian churches that joined with the United Church of Canada at the time of church union in 1925. First Church's baptism book begins in 1833, naming only the child and the date of baptism. The parents' names are not shown until 1855. William Warnock's year of birth is taken from the inscription on the family's gravestone in Section 4 of Mountview Cemetery. Beyond this, we have: Death reg. 019710-96 Galt, Waterloo Co. William Warnock died 13 July 1896. Age 61. Born Galt. Retired farmer. Presbyterian. Physician Dr. Vardon. Informant James Warnock. The above death registration places William's birth in Galt and this is probably correct. His baptism was in Galt 24 February, 1836, and his inscription on the family's gravestone dates his year of birth to 1835. His father purchased 50 acres on lot 3 of the 8th concession of Beverly in November of 1835, but the family may not have moved there until spring of 1836. |
