Note | Death reg. Michigan Dept. of Health, Certificate of Death Place of Death St. Clair County Marina City Rev. James Francis Dickie residence 635 Riverside Dr. Married. Name of wife Grace MacKenzie Born Scotland November 13, 1845 Age 87 yrs., 6 mos., 16 dys. Parents Francis (Dickie) and Susan MacLelland, both born Scotland. Informant Mrs. Dickie, Marina City. Burial Hespeler, Ontario, date not given. Date of death 28 May, 1933. Looking over James' death registration it first becomes obvious that he married a second time after the passing of Louise. Louise, of course, is buried in Preston, not far from Hespeler - Louise's mother was a Hespeler - but, in the end, James was buried in neither Preston or Hespeler, but in Hillside Cemetery in St. Clair, St. Clair Co., Michigan. For this information we are indebted to Find-a-Grave. A photograph of James stone (quite literally a very large granite rock) has his name and years of birth and death engraved thereon. For the moment, we know little about grace, but she and James were married as of the 1930 U.S. census and were living in Detroit. There, she is shown as age 68, born in Canada, with both parents born in Scotland. |
